Rita Pierson, a teacher for 40 years, once heard a colleague say, "They don't pay me to like the kids." Her response: "Kids don't learn from people they don't like.'" A rousing call to educators to believe in their students and actually connect with them on a real, human, personal level.

Love this Ted talk. Very interesting, Rita speaks passionately and I can see why She was a great teacher and can imagine She achieved great outcomes for Her students. Her ability to connect with Her students on a real and personal level shines through in Her speech.
ReplyDeleteThanks Andrea, I totally agree with your comments. This is a very good example of a presenter being able to connect with the audience and bring a subject area alive which they can all relate to. Thank you for your evaluation. Mark
